Welcome to Department of Geography
The total built up area of the department is about 910 sq. feet. This is Consist of one classroom and laboratory, Cabin for the head of the Department and Faculty Members. A Laboratory is well equipped with various wall maps, toposheets, weather maps, Aerial Photographs, Survey instruments, Weather instrument, GPS System and tracing table, etc.
The Department has glorious history of result in the college. Five Students of the Department were stood first in college at B.A level. The department has a Tradition of good result.
In the year of 2010, the department had organized a two day state level seminar on “Social and Environmental Movements in Maharashtra”. In the year of 2012 the department had organized a two day National level seminar on “Research and Research Methodology in Commerce, Social Science and Geography”. There were more than 45 participants from all over Maharashtra for State Level Seminar.
Keeping in view the development in Science and technology, the geography department is conducting the Environmental Awareness Course from the year of 2004-2005.

Geographical change primarily focuses on changes in spatial characteristics throughout time. The geography honours programme is designed with each student’s unique educational and professional objectives in mind. It emphasises the interaction between people and their environment and focuses on spatial research, both qualitative and quantitative.
Students are trained on advanced physical and human geography principles during the first year of the curriculum. They are able to focus on certain aspects of the subject in the third year, on which they finish their field reports.
The students would be well-prepared for professions in geography and related fields like GIS and remote sensing after completing the course. They will be able to pursue an MA as well. /M.Sc. Geography Course.

The Department of Geography organized various cultural and academically enriching activities during the academic year 2022-2023
The academic year commenced in the month of June 2022. The academic work started very smoothly. Along with the regular teaching, we also make audiovisual aids, like video films regarding current geographical conditions like Tsunamis, Land Slides in Malin, Flood Hazards in Sangali & Kolhapur, and Home Projects, etc. PowerPoint presentations were made and shown to the students. This impresses the students and enhances their curiosity about the subject. The college established virtual classrooms and e-content studios for better teaching in online mode. Our students were satisfied with this.
‘Geography Day’ was celebrated on 14th January 2023. Prof. Ravindra Medhe was the Chief Guest of the function on this day. He delivered a talk on the ‘Career Opportunities in Remote Sensing and GIS. A poster Presentation Competition organizes for the arts Faculty students on the same day.
A practical village survey was made compulsory for the second and third-year students. The students had firsthand knowledge and personal experience of the various geographical aspects of the areas they visited. The direct observation and involvement of the students enriched their minds.
A visit was organized on 28th February 2023 to Savitribai Phule Pune University on National Science Day. Students got information about innovative science projects and innovations. GIS application, Astronomy, Radio Telescope, and various other subjects. A farewell ceremony was arranged in the department for the outgoing students to wish them success and a good future online mode.
